Although sinus surgery remains preferable for its proven results, home remedies are still popular. As U.S. News and World Report recently outlined, these home remedies haven’t changed appreciably in the last several decades:

  • Drink plenty of liquids, particularly water and juice. Avoid alcohol and anything caffeinated.
  • Keep sinus cavities moist and warm. Take a hot shower, or apply a warm towel to your face while you sit over a warm bowl of water.
  • Use a saline solution to flush your sinuses.
  • Elevate your head while you sleep, allowing your sinuses to drain.

But if these commonsense measures don’t work, it’s time to move into antibiotics and sinus surgery.

Balloon sinuplasty has shown great promise in the treatment of chronic sinusitis, boasting a 90%+ success rate with almost no adverse effects. If you’re suffering from sinusitis and cannot cope at home any longer, it may be time to visit your sinus surgeon. We’ll set you up with an expert ENT consultation today.
