Sinus From An Italian Restaurant?
Billy Joel, the great songwriter and occasionally embattled rock star, has confirmed that he’ll be back to his punishing live tour again following a sinus surgery procedure:
Billy Joel will take a six-week break from performing to undergo endoscopic sinus surgery, forcing the rescheduling of his Sept. 30 Madison Square Garden concert to Nov. 21 so he can recover from the procedure.
As the article states, Mr. Joel has had issues with allergies, as well as various signs of vocal fatigue and pain over the many decades he has spent in the public eye. This most recent sinus surgery procedure isn’t described in any detail by his representatives, but it’s possible that he is undergoing a procedure to help him breathe better, and possibly to stave off future infections.
Six weeks for endoscopic sinus surgery is conservative, which should be a good indication of just how safe these minimally invasive procedures really are. We wish Mr. Joel the very best in his return to health, and hope fervently that any breathing obstructions he may have encountered are – ahem – movin’ out.
