Celine Dion Silenced by Sinusitis
Here’s a nice reminder that sinuses don’t care about money: Celine Dion, famed Canadian chanteuse and Vegas’s $100 million woman, was sidelined for a week last month. The cause: that same thing that’s been making the rounds in your neighborhood. Sinusitis.
Ms. Dion’s experience hewed pretty closely to what everyone has been reporting: flu-like symptoms followed by a secondary infection that left her with headache, fatigue and misery. This, of course, is the telltale torment of sinusitis, which can strike when blockages in the sinuses give invading bacteria a chance to set up camp.
Treatment Counts
Sinusitis is a painful condition that can eventually turn dangerous if left untreated. That’s why experts agree that anyone who has suffered with these symptoms for more than two weeks should see an ENT sooner rather than later. We have a number of good interventions that can alleviate your distress, include noninvasive balloon sinuplasty and sinus surgery.
The good news in Vegas is that doctors prescribed Ms. Dion a round of antibiotics, and she was back to singing within a few days.
Her art will go on.
